After having gone a few weeks without heat last winter, and a few days where I fed the feral cats who adopted me, rather than myself, We Knew We Needed a Patron.
After some arm twisting by some loyal followers, I reluctantly joined Patreon to hopefully get a Patron for Our sites. EndYulin2017 and Wildlife Planet. As the help started pouring in.
After some arm twisting by some loyal followers, I reluctantly joined Patreon to hopefully get a few donations for our sites. EndYulin2017 and Wildlife Planet.
As the help started pouring in, I grew more and more upset. Knowing that the $25 I just received, could have gone to save a dog in Yulin.
I knew your hard earned money would have been better spent helping animals, so within days I closed Patreon.
In my heart, the slim chance at survival these animals had, depended on your generosity. It was just too high a price to pay for our website.
Earlier this year, I announced I would be closing the site down for good. I was more than shocked by the response. When people on the ground in China and throughout Asia, started emailing me I was overwhelmed by how upset they were.
People told me that being alone in a foreign country they could not speak about what was happening behind the scenes. But then I showed up and they felt relieved knowing the truth was finally being told. I truly didn’t realize the impact I had on their lives, so I needed to rethink my position.
Taking out a loan I was able to keep the site open, but I knew, that money wouldn’t last. So I would have to find a way to accept people’s generosity.
Please understand I am not against donations, and I would gratefully accept them. To me, it all came down to who needed your gift more.
It wasn’t even debatable, it was the animals and the people on the ground who fight for them every day.
The Best of Both Worlds
It may have taken a few months, but I believe I found a solution that I hope you’ll understand.
We will only accept a one-time or re-occurring monthly donation of $1.
If I do my job well and offer you content that you feel is worthy of a gift, then I can not only keep the site open but make it better. I know this because I work much faster when my stomach isn’t growling and my fingers aren’t numb LOL.
This $1 max donation will also mean, I can rest easy knowing you would still be able to help those who need it most.
The words have yet to be created to explain how grateful I am to everyone who visits our site. I can only say I am truly blessed and honored to have become a small part of your lives.
